WORD CONTROL TO RELEASE FEATURE LENGTH VERSION OF MOUNTAIN FIRE by TSC FILM

WORD CONTROL IS CURRENTLY IN POST PRODUCTION ON A 90 MINUTE VERSION OF ITS RECENTLY PRODUCED 38 MINUTE SHORT FILM, MOUNTAIN FIRE.

This version will be released in the first half of 2021 and will include the “full story”, as director and writer, Boris Ivanoff, explains: “We set out to make a short film, but ended up with a feature on our hands, so the story you see in Mountain Fire is a substantially truncated version of the script we shot.”

The “micro-budget war movie” as it is being dubbed, will include additional material shot in Sydney last year, as well as all the original footage. Ivanoff says this version had to to be made: “The lead character of Nick the war photographer [played by Joseph Del Re] goes through an intense emotional arc being trapped on a mountain in Afghanistan surrounded by dead soldiers and living bad guys. So this version allows all the characters and all the action to occupy their natural time.

This also means that this version, though the same story, really is a different film. While Mountain Fire is a fast-paced war story with some interesting twists, the feature will be a slower burn with each actor’s full performance adding to the emotional depth of the story, and the physical setting of the mountains playing a much bigger dramatic role.”

Ivanoff says that realising the full potential of the story has been its own unique challenge: “It is essentially an accidental feature, so the primary goal has been getting this version polished to a feature standard, even a micro budget one, particularly in terms of sound, music, and to a lesser extent, visual effects.”

Word Control confirms that the feature version will be completed at Eden Collective, the same post production facility as Mountain Fire. It will be released under a different title (yet to be announced) and is expected to have a theatrical premiere in Sydney.

WORD CONTROL PARTNERS WITH EDEN COLLECTIVE by TSC FILM

WORD CONTROL’S SHORT WAR DRAMA MOUNTAIN FIRE WILL UNDERGO ADDITIONAL POST PRODUCTION AT EDEN COLLECTIVE IN SYDNEY TO PREPARE THE FILM FOR DELIVERY TO DISTRIBUTOR GONELLA PRODUCTIONS.

This will involve an updated sound mix and new grade led by award-wining cinematographer and colourist, Adam Eden.

Director Boris Ivanoff says “It’s a privilege and delight to have Adam’s experience, skills and talent on the film. His colourist’s eye and cinematographer’s instincts are the ideal combination for adding the final polish to this intimate war drama.”

DOP Ben Brunnekreef adds “A small-scale production shot entirely on location brought plenty of aesthetic challenges with lighting. Matching the northern Afghanistan setting and keeping the fictional time of day consistent between shoots with limited resources kept us on our toes, and should give Adam plenty to work with.”

Mountain Fire will be Adam Eden’s first project as a full member of the Colourist Society International.
